Impressive film that of course saddles you with such a rough, realistic fact with a feeling of discomfort, but on the other hand commands admiration in order to keep it exciting throughout the entire duration. Also an eye for the magisterial landscape and certainly solid acting.

Very dramatic. In most disaster films it is clear who will survive and who will not and that is often determined by how sympathetic a character is. Unfortunately, that's not how it works in real life and it shows in this movie. And of course the characters in this film have a lot to choose from.

Does that make a good movie? I'm not convinced. The plot feels a bit too bulky, it could have been more concise. This is of course at the expense of a few events that do not make it into the film, but when it comes to completeness, it would have been better to make a documentary. And the age of the film is also visible. It is visually mainly recording. I would have liked to see at least an overview shot that clearly shows how deep they have ended up in the mountains.

Nice to see once, but not great. 2*.

Excellent and captivating drama, about which perhaps a few comments can be made, but as a total picture comes out fine.

The story of a Uruguayan rugby team that crashes in the Andes is brought in that sense, the book was also tried, but it was so dry of substance that it was not interesting. Although it is dubious that the device will run into problems, after the crash there is a good picture of survival in bizarre circumstances. All aspects from stupid to smart decisions, and hope to despair, come through and shape the whole.

Despite critical notes that can be cracked about certain decisions, and especially how one looks and comes across after months of starvation at miles, this is above all a story about the intransigence of man. And with an emphasis on a good story. It does not go into depth on a personal level, but all degrees of spiritual decline do pass. Hope, despair, good ideas, bad ideas, the so-called birthday celebrations, it is a kind of descent down the ladder of high morals to the ruthless desire to survive to the famous canibalism. Add to that the build-up to the avalanche and the battle around it, and the insignificance of existence, and you have a lot with Alive.

Slightly dated and raw, Alive is not real. A film like this would quickly move towards an 18 rating today, I suspect. Nevertheless, Alive is a more than fascinating drama that mainly underlines the survival and intransigence of humans and is very pleasant to watch.
