There could have been a more interesting story to tell about Domino Harvey, is my first thought. Something profound, perhaps emotional. But that is completely lost in the convulsive way in which spectacle is piled upon spectacle. It is incredible above all else - and there was no need, I think.

Then comes the irritation about the editing, the colors and the overly hip style. Which gives the already ruined story an extra kick. Sad - there's a decent crew and cast ready to make something beautiful out of it, but it doesn't work out in any way.

Not good.

Tony Scott tries to imitate Tarantino and Oliver Stone's Natural Born Killers, with the slightly absurdist of the first (Ian & Brian) and the slow shutter speeds of the second. And the shitload of violence from both.

But no matter how he tries, he doesn't come close. One long nineties video clip, which never becomes exciting or emotionally shocking, sometimes confusing, but also contains entire sections that should have ended up on the editing floor. What was the added value of the Jerry Springer Show?

A daring casting, yes, but Keira is just not a hard nut but upperclass. She does well here for her age, but convincing as a bounty hunter...hell no. Rest of the cast is hit and miss.

But all in all... no. Might have had an impact if the movie had been released in 1995 and not 2005.

Domino is a film based on truth that follows the first steps of a well-known actor's daughter as a professional bounty hunter. In itself an interesting story that, however, chokes on its hectic storytelling.

The film that fires a barrage of visual impressions at the viewer that does not serve the clarity of the story is an attack on the nerves. The non-chronological narrative and the large number of characters only add to the confusion.

The film is edited quickly and at a fast pace. Lots of cuts. Lots of shots. Bright and expressive use of color. A two-hour bombardment of visual violence is a lot to digest. The story and characters get lost in it. I experienced the film as a concept-less trip with many image changes, location changes, stuttering storylines, ironic sounding dialogues without meaning and a range of interchangeable characters. Nervous and uninteresting.

Domino is a movie that causes a lot of chaos at a rapid pace that made me very tired.
