A realistic Batman was told to me beforehand. No childish film adaptation, no over-the-top comic battles. That's a shame, because I don't think a realistic Batman exists.

Christian Bale started off hopeful, but from the moment he puts on his suit and uses a tough voice changer, he goes wrong. I also had my doubts with the bad guy on duty: he doesn't give a damn. Small bright spot was the atmosphere and chaos in Gotham City, although sometimes it feels like New York City in the fog. Michael Caine deserves a mention: he was a welcome moment of rest between meaningless dialogue and battles that Batman - of course - wins far too easily.

Finally made some time to start with this trilogy by Nolan. Never seen (shame!) and normally I'm not a big fan of blockbuster action movies, but both Nolan and the excellent odds made me decide to fill this gap with priority in 2018.

What immediately struck me is the expert attention that Nolan devotes to the deepening of the character of Batman (Bruce Wayne). With the necessary attention to precision and detail, he works out the entire film to almost perfection. This only gets better in part 2 (part 3 TDKR will follow later this week). There, too, I have no doubts about Nolan's mastery. The legend of the ultra-hero Nolan produced is unparalleled. The magic, mystery, evolution and aura of Batman is almost perfect. What powerful images you get burned into your retinas when a dark menacing figure looks out from a tower point into the nightly drizzling city!

In addition to the enormous atmosphere creation, the character development is also very strong. That can hardly be otherwise with the top cast that Batman begins rich: Caine, Freeman, Bale and Oldman. What else do you want? And then The Joker has yet to come…

The action moments are also a joy to watch. The action jumps off the screen. Yet we miss a real bad guy here in the first part, one that we can remember for a long time. James Bond-wise, Batman uses a number of advanced gadgets to fight his battle against crime. Successful action film that, in addition to the many fight scenes and explosion, also pays attention to quality and depth. Definitely worth 4.0*.

Batman Begins an interpretation by Christopher Nolan in three parts, this being the first. I think it's brilliant both visually and acting cast. The atmosphere is great and the quality is high. Very entertaining.
