Crime 101 plot
"Always have an exit."
Davis is a thief who often targets jewelry. He steals only what can be replaced by insurance, and he plans everything carefully so no one is ever hurt. Davis's crimes are so widespread and his targets so diverse that the police don't even realize they're connected. One day, Officer Lou Lubesnik finally sees the pattern and is certain it's the same perpetrator. Davis has been cautious up until now, but he doesn't realize how close he is to being caught.

An excellent film about a professional criminal who meticulously plans his robberies. A more than solid crime film that's well-edited. A strong opening and several suspenseful scenes. The film reminded me several times of Heat (it might not reach that level, but it comes close). A good cast with quite a few familiar names. A generous 4.0 stars.

I really enjoyed it, but of course there were a few under-16s who, just to be clear, ruined the film by shouting, talking, etc.
For the rest, we had a great time!

I'm pretty much part of the "Everything used to be better" generation now. There were fewer people back then, there was no climate crisis, good music was still being made, and you went to the cinema for movies. It's no wonder retro is all the rage these days; there are tons of cover bands, and classic films are being re-released.
Crime 101 is a new, modern film that harks back to classic crime thrillers. No excessive explosions or spectacular special effects, just solid acting and a good car chase. A storyline that's not too complex, highly predictable, and, above all, actors who are easy on the eyes.
This film isn't innovative at all, and you don't necessarily need to see it on the big screen, but I applaud the fact that more films like this are being made. The running time could definitely be shorter, which would speed things up; it's quite slow. Just a solid film, without too many pretenses of being "just as good as before."
