After a series of events that they believe are burglaries, Katie's (Katie Featherston) family installs security cameras in their home. It turns out that a paranormal presence and Katie herself are responsible for the damage. Convinced that there must be something supernatural going on with a ghost, the Katie family must endure torment as the ghost preys on her little nephew Hunter.

revised. The slow (perhaps too slow for some) build-up, the absence of familiar faces, which consciously or unconsciously reinforces the so-called truth content for the viewer, the loose and natural acting, the long waiting that leads to the building of expectation, the daily life of the members of the family that is not uninteresting after all because you set it against the coming alienation, the suggestive tape... many viewers will experience it as silly tricks within a repetition exercise, and for the same money I would have found that too, but for me it still works, like a kind of hypnotic trip that ends in a spiral into the depths.

Bizarre numbers: cost $3 million, revenue $177 million. But Part 1 had an even more favorable cost/benefit ratio, generating $193 million in revenue from a film that cost only $15,000...

More of the same. Nothing really extra compared to the first film but still very creepy. A few scenes are very scary: at those cabinets and drawers that all fly open at once while Kristi was reading a magazine in the kitchen I almost jumped to the ceiling in terror and nothing more creepy than this family suddenly completely in the dark while paranormal phenomena are going on brrr... I wouldn't survive this. More is also being revealed about the why behind those events.

Yes, Paranormal Activity 2 has some good moments but also some bad moments. Show that swimming pool 20 times or the living space in which nothing happened pure time filling: then only show those spaces later in the film if something really happens. The beginning is a bit disappointing with the "perfect family" bullshit. By announcing paranormal activity with that murmur/rumble that resounds, some of the tension disappears. Without that sound, this would certainly have been more effective.

Even less.

Where part 1 was not very exciting, this one was even less exciting. The previous one was often kept alive by a few nice scenes, but this one doesn't really know that. At most, the pool scenes are still fun to follow.

Acting is pretty broken and even more inconclusive than part 1. It's not scary anywhere and soon the characters start to get annoying. You're almost tempted to say that the baby plays the best of them all, because at least they do it with conviction.

No, an annoying sequel to a not-so-good original. Not exciting, but because it remains smooth and entertaining a 2.0* And then I was actually in a pretty generous mood, because in a lesser the grade would undoubtedly have been lower.
