A British version of one of the many mediocre Elvis films and that's a good thing. Unlike Elvis Presley, Cliff Richard is a less than talented actor and less gifted dancer, so this kind of formulaic old-fashioned fun is right up his alley. What passes for a story is an excuse to visit different European locations and let Cliff and friends flirt and flirt with graceful young ladies. The title track and "Bachelor Boy" are Cliff classics, but apart from a welcome cameo from The Shadows, it's musically uninteresting, verging on the bizarre at times - a very clumsy attempt to emulate the magic of "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers" is a low point.. It won't hurt fans of Cliff much. There is nothing to criticize about his singing and the fact that he has managed to continue his career well into the 21st century testifies to a great talent combined with an admirable perseverance and work ethic.

No longer of this time? Bad luck for this time then - as long as people still watch a certain film, their viewing pleasure is the only thing that determines whether a film is still of this time (or any time for that matter). Nice songs, nice choreographies in which Cliff also participates well, beautiful colors and photography, beautiful travelogue landscapes, a fashion I'm a sucker for (the boys in nice sixties trousers, the ladies in elegantly tailored dresses), a touching romance between Cliff and Lauri Peters, completely unknown to me, and Ron Moody, who is allowed to steal the scene as extremely theatrically as The Great Orlando, it is all heartwarmingly innocent. I do accept the few lesser moments (the corny confusion of tongues in Yugoslavia, Cliff's fishnet shirt). Even for those who are not fans of Cliff (like me) still quite entertaining, if viewed with a "sympathetic" eye.

Certainly no worse than the average Elvis movie. Often beautifully shot, in Technicolor moreover, with nice locations in various European countries in the early 1960s.

Furthermore, of course, the typical showbiz of that time, often with some stale humor and romance. I secretly thought that pantomime-like performance at the French court was quite fun.
