Sex in a Cold Climate plot

In 1950s Catholic Ireland, 'fallen women' were often locked up in the monasteries of the Order of Magdalene. Four women testify serenely about guilt and penance, about the daily tyranny of the nuns and priests, about the hypocritical morality that denied any form of sexuality, but at the same time handed helpless girls over to sexual abuse and humiliation.
