Lore plot

"When your life is a lie who can you trust?"

Spring of 1945. When the German front collapses, the Allies take power in Hitler's country. Fourteen-year-old Lore, whose Nazi parents are incarcerated, is solely responsible for the care of her brothers and sisters. The only place they can go is their grandmother's house, 900 km north. The children embark on a journey through their devastated country, and slowly but surely they understand what has happened and the consequences of their parents' actions. When Thomas, a young Jewish refugee, offers his help, Lore must rely on a person who has always been said to be the enemy.

Shaky story and lots of annoyances. Like the many questions that remain unanswered.

Besides, I thought it was more of a drama than a real war movie. Found it 90% drama and only 10% war.

It was all about them being on the run.

Nadoed, okay film, no further recommendation.

the beginning is somewhat dreamy, but it soon becomes raw, gray and ugly. illogical too. perhaps that is all indicative of war.

Lore can do nothing with etiquette (that which is considered proper); it is, after all, nothing more than appearances. what's that worth if you behave like a beast beneath the surface?

beautiful music, strong acting, but distant and therefore not a beautiful film for me.

Lore

Excellent movie. Many films have already been made that are set during the Second World War, but Lore opts for an original premise. Just after Hitler's suicide, Germany falls apart, and the children of a family torn apart (the father and mother were Nazis) try to survive under difficult circumstances. Saskia Rosendahl is fantastic as Lore and carries the film in a formidable way. Director Cate Shortland chooses to keep the camera close to the actors' skin, and it provides a penetrating, oppressive and intimate film experience.
