Gods and Monsters plot
"A portrait of an outrageous friendship."
1957. Young ex-Marine Clayton Boone (Brendan Fraser) works as a gardener for retired film director James Whale (Ian McKellen), maker of the famous Frankenstein films of the 1930s. Although Whale lives in comfortable seclusion, his health deteriorates and he is cared for by the protective housekeeper Hannah. Boone becomes fascinated by his employer's stories about 'old' Hollywood, but is well aware that the old man is gay. He becomes suspicious when Whale asks him to pose for sketches in his studio by the pool.
