I think I'm one of the few who appreciates the Leprechaun series.

For me it has a high youth sentiment value...and these films were quite popular in the 90s, among others.

Unfortunately, this one is one of the lesser ones in the series...it's not Warwick Davis' fault, he always does an entertaining job .

Visually the film isn't bad...it just doesn't have much going on.

Just watch the first few parts

Of course it couldn't be worse than Leprechaun 4, but I don't think anyone would have expected the 5th film in this exhausted franchise to turn out to be such a surprising bull's-eye. Ice T's presence is one of the key elements in this entertaining horror comedy. In a mild parody of himself, he plays Mack Daddy, a former petty thief who has become an equally successful and self-righteous producer after the discovery of a bag of gold. Three mild-mannered but ambitious hip-hoppers literally and figuratively try to gain access to Mack Daddy's office. Of course the Leprechaun comes

inexplicably back to life to make everyone's life miserable.

In any case, it is refreshing to see a film about three boys from South Central who do not fit the stereotypical image of the 'gangsta'. The characterizations are original and the bickering between the boys provides some fun moments. Warwick Davis is also back in form, but this is ultimately a cheaply made exploitation film. The makers have made the best of it and in this case that is a recommendation.

This fifth part was originally supposed to take place in the White House, but that was apparently seen as too risky by the studios. That's why director Rob Spera and his two screenwriters moved it to the slums of America. It underlines that the vision behind this series no longer took itself seriously as a horror film and therefore needs to have a lot of humor. The characters work a bit better compared to the predecessor and Ice-T in particular is very funny, but ultimately this film falls over the same obstacles that the previous parts also experienced. It lacks courage, sharpness and good acting. The kills are also no longer creative enough and the finale is bland, but it is slightly better than part 4.
