I've seen all the Star Trek movies except for Into Darnkness (I've become a bit of a trekkie), but this was the least I liked. Although the special effects were at their best, I found it to feel emotionless and a bit dull at the end. I didn't expect to see a grand finale, but it's always a shame that the film lives up to your expectations when you think something like that. In fact, it's already going wrong with the poster, which doesn't look too good. And that while the story isn't even that bad. The humor is nice again and I still think the characters are worthy of Star Trek, and as said, the special effects look beautiful again.

Crunchy, woodsy and too clinical.

I am not a Trekkie and never will be. Sci-fi is a genre I like but Star Trek Nemisis is a soulless movie. Like all Star Trek movies, it lacks creativity. The dialogues are amateurish and appallingly bad. Everyone has each other say their sentence neatly as if they had drawn a number and wait for their turn to say something.

The fact that they walk around in pajamas throughout the film, well, they can be forgiven, but that the Captain goes along in every dangerous mission is downright laughable. Imagine if supreme commander of the allied forces, General D. Eisenhower had set foot on the beach first on D-Day! In reality, he didn't come until days later when there was no longer any question of danger.

It's only film and everything is possible in films, I hear you think. This is partly true, but should not be at the expense of credibility. I mean, Data is an Android and his physique, locomotion and speech are human beings. Everything exudes that he is a person, only he is white. A very inexpensive way to show the viewer that he is different. Or he looks like a human (with flesh color for 3 euros at the range) or as C3PO.

I watched it because it's so insanely bad that it's going to be fun. So something positive can also result from something annoyed.

"First time I saw Data, he was leaning against a tree in the holodeck, trying to whistle. Funniest thing I ever saw. No matter what he did, he couldn't get the tune right. What was that song? I can't remember the song..."

This was the only Star Trek movie I hadn't seen, so when I saw it on Netflix I just watched it.

Patrick Stewart was again very good as Captain Jean-Luc Picard. Furthermore, the usual Next Generation cast was present. Kate Mulgrew also briefly appeared as Janeway. Tom Hardy was a mediocre bad guy, he didn't look enough like Stewart to pretend to be his clone, which might have been a lot cooler had Stewart been cast in a double role. He wasn't bad in and of itself.

The story was decent, felt a bit like a longer episode but that doesn't matter. The aliens and locations looked fine, although I thought some things were a bit taken from Star Wars Episode 1. The CGI effects were actually not too bad, although of course they can't match the great effects of, for example, The Search for Spock.

All in all, it was an entertaining movie, at least better than the terrible Star Trek: Insurrection. But still I don't think it's a worthy closing for the Next Generation crew. Data dead, and a mediocre relationship from Riker... Really unfortunate.
