Star Trek: Insurrection plot

"The battle for paradise has begun."

Ever since the federation was founded, the first directive has been clear: Starfleet must never interfere with the natural development of other civilizations. However, Picard has to deal with orders that conflict with it. If he executes them, 600 peaceful inhabitants of Ba'Ku will be forced to leave their very special world so that millions of others are said to benefit from the unique, rejuvenating powers that reside on Ba'ku. If Picard doesn't carry out the orders, he risks his starship, his career and his life. For Picard, the choice is clear. He must stand up to Starfleet and lead the rebellion to preserve paradise for the Ba'ku.

Good science-fiction film in which the crew of the Enterprise comes to the rescue when a peaceful people is threatened. Again a good story and the location is really beautiful. And, although successful, the humor is a bit too emphatic during the first part.

Mediocre Star Trek movie.

Bad CGI effects, the enterprise looks bad, bad sets.

Poor story, it's way too long could have been in an episode of the TV series.

Patrick Stewart was genius as ever.

Fairly entertaining.

Great Star Trek movie. I have now seen more than half of those films and this is the only one that exceeds 3* for me. The script is well executed and entertaining, in style and story (unlike most Star Trek movies) it is also very faithful to the series. Maybe that's why it ranks so low, because it will appeal to Star Trek fans more than those who haven't followed the series. It may also not live up to everyone's expectations because it takes place largely on and near a planet rather than just in space.

It seems that the critics at the time wrote it off as "old-fashioned", perhaps because it is so faithful to the series. In any case, I don't feel like cackling the critics, especially when they miss the point. The "bad" thing about this movie is that it's not packed with action scenes that are thinly tied together, in that sense it's definitely "old fashioned", instead we get a traditional Star Trek where the story plays an important role and is good at it. balance with the tension and the action. Furthermore, the acting, editing, CGI, etc. are fine. It's also nice to see sci-fi that has now become a reality, and by that I mean the drones.

Great Star Trek movie! 3.5*
