Minor disaster.
I didn't like Ragnarok at the time either, but the least you could say was that the switch Taika Waititi made with Thor was at least something different. In Love and Thunder he opts even more resolutely for this approach. Everything and everyone is greatly relativized and ridiculed. He goes way too far with that. Of course it's refreshing not to take it too seriously, but the result is flat slapstick. Almost every scene ends with the same 'comic' gimmick and hops on to the next. The same tune is repeated endlessly.
As far as I'm concerned, the 'new' Thor is already at its limit after 2 films. Chris Hemsworth as a bodybuilding glam rocker might be able to get on with it for a while, but soon in the movie he flies through the air like a witch on his hammer. That's cool, but this level of shitty fun can never carry a movie.
Share with him in the malaise: the ever fickle Natalie Portman who also misses the mark badly. And Christian Bale, an alluring name as a villain. Features a cool Voldemort-inspired design. But how many scenes does he end up with? A piece or 6, 7?
The great villain barely appears in the play. After all, the movie is so busy being shitty and funny. With the hair-swept outings to some god realm, only more infantile humor is needed (but to be honest I must say that at first I could have had the absurd supporting role of Russell Crowe, with a Slavic(?) accent). Love and Thunder hops from shitty fun to shitty fun for 2 hours. Along the way, some bland cameos are performed here and there, inclusive boxes are ticked and Bale tries to come across as somewhat threatening, but it does not help. Marvel - and I wasn't a fan already - seems to have lost the pedals after their Avengers hatch. Their films will no doubt be financial successes for a while yet, but the level just keeps falling.

I am absolutely not one of those Marvel stuff, a lot of movies/series of which more than half are nothing, yes yes dear Marvel fans that's what I say and I'm sorry about that. Anyway Thor is the only Marvel movie I like, I loved parts 1 and 3 but then this one came. Man, what a childish movie this has become, the story couldn't grab me either and what people say is Thor, so Thor is not a pity. So for me after seeing this one I'm going to stop with that Marvel stuff now, sorry again

Apart from the good music and CGI, the film was a real flop. toddler story. No substance, more slapstick than marvel action. Felt that only purpose here was to make himself as ridiculous as possible. Can't believe Chris Hemsworth has agreed to this to drill his character into the ground. Saddening…
