Chris Hemsworth has had talks with Marvel about returning for Thor 5, according to Ragnarok and Love and Thunder director Taika Waititi
The Australian has played the God of Thunder for well over a decade now, starting with Thor in 2011. He would go on to star in three further movies in the Thor series as well as playing a major part in the Avengers' Inifity Saga.
Waititi has written and directed the last two movies in the series - Thor: Ragnarok and Thor: Love and Thunder.
Ragnarok received critical acclaim and was a smash at the box office, while the response to Love and Thunder was more lukewarm. There are constant rumours about a potential fifth Thor movie, but should it happen, a new director will be required.
"I know that I won't be involved…I'm going to concentrate on these other films that I've signed on for," he revealed to Business Insider.
"So that's six, seven years gone. I'd imagine another Thor would be a lot sooner than that…But I love Marvel, I love working with them. I love Chris.
"I would never feel like they are cheating on me," Waititi joked.
"We're in an open relationship, and it's like if they want to see other people, I'm happy for that. I'd still get back into bed with them one day."
Waititi is currently promoting Next Goal Wins and will soon start serious development on a new Star Wars script.
However, in a new interview with Inverse, the New Zealander revealed that he has heard rumours of Hemsworth meeting with executives about a return as the God of Thunder.
