"Make your own future"
Sixteen-year-old Sebastian has spent most of his life with his grandmother, who teaches him about future pedagogy, after her former mentor Buckminster Fuller. She therefore hopes that Sebastian will follow in his footsteps. During the period that she has a stroke, Sebastian hangs out with the smoking Jared from the suburbs. They start a band and it's up to the former to decide which path he ultimately wants to take in life.

After the death of his parents in a plane crash, Sebastian [Asa Butterfield] grows up under the protective wings of his grandmother [Ellen Burstyn], a free spirit who mirrors her life to that of her idiosyncratic mentor R. Buckminster Fuller. Sebastian is introduced to a completely different lifestyle when he meets the cynical heart patient Jared [Wolff], who introduces him to punk music. The friendship that develops inspires both boys to do things they previously thought impossible. A well-acted drama with poignant observations about the limitations we impose on ourselves, especially during our teenage years, but the story is a bit thin.

In terms of story (more of an atmospheric sketch than plot) and especially atmosphere and tone, it suits my taste, yet this film still failed to fully captivate me. The film stalls too often and the characters remain fairly uninteresting. Nevertheless, due to the atmosphere and tone, it was pleasant viewing for me. 3.0*.
