Evil Dead, met inmiddels zes films en drie seizoenen is wellicht de meest kwalitatieve horror franchise ooit gemaakt. Deze laatste sequel is daarbij de voorlopige hekkensluiter en verdient weinig meer dan een zeer krappe 3*.

Het is een groot gorefest met niet de minste aandacht voor een fatsoenlijk verhaal en geen vleugje zelfrelativering. Naar het einde toe was het CGI-budget tot overmaat van ramp ook nog eens op. Of zo leek het althans. Benieuwd of ze volgend jaar de draad terug oppikken met Evil Dead Wrath.
