This is a truly terribly bad movie; I really can't say anything good about it. The only thing it might be worthy of is the award for the most annoying, childish movie of the year....

The young orphan James goes to live with his grandfather Geppetto. To alleviate James's loneliness, his grandfather crafts a wooden puppet that can walk on its own and even talk. Voilà, Pinocchio is born. A wooden puppet with a long nose who desperately wants to become a real boy. In his quest to achieve this, Pinocchio causes quite a bloodbath.
The TCU (Twisted Child Universe) is growing. After films like Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey (2023) and Bambi: The Reckoning (2025), there is now Pinocchio: Unstrung. A production that maintains a very acceptable level of quality compared to the aforementioned films. After a cleverly crafted introduction featuring shadow play and the introduction of the main characters, the wooden puppet can really let loose. And letting loose makes for enjoyable viewing. Guts, heads, and limbs take a heavy beating. And despite the wooden puppet's ruthless actions, director and writer Rhys Frake-Waterfield succeeds remarkably well in making the viewer feel sympathy for the little wooden killer.
Pinocchio: Unstrung is a fun and intense horror film. A post-credits scene reveals that a sequel is in the works. The creators of the TCU have also hinted that they are working towards a cinematic reunion of the evil fantastic characters from the universe. A bit too much of a good thing, I think.

A hilarious, bloody black comedy reinterpretation of Carlo Collodi's beloved story. At first, there is nothing wrong with Pinocchio [Jude Evan Lloyd]. But Gepetto [Richard Brake] is a mad scientist; the “fairy” [Emma Tate] is a sadistic manipulator, and Cricket [Robert Englund] only encourages Pinocchio's violence! Pinocchio's only friend and hope is Gepetto's grandson [Cameron Bell]. Extremely violent, but inventive and often hilarious at his darkest.
