Gritty and ambitious is the best way to describe this short film by director David-Jan Bronsgeest (who, judging by the episode, seems like a nice guy). An imaginative revenge film enhanced with a political layer, although it could perhaps have been better thought out in combination with the horror genre. Fortunately, as a viewer, it hardly bothered me, because Bronsgeest sets the tone early on with an experimental directing approach. I was not a fan of the chaotic editing (it made a somewhat cheap impression), but the effects look good and the actors/actresses do a good job. The accumulation of erotic dance scenes is a bit repetitive, but once the last fifteen minutes arrive, Binary picks up the pace very nicely. Presenter Martin Koolhoven mentioned a certain scene in the first half to praise the build-up of tension, but I especially thought the build-up to the final phase was very clever. Very brutal and uninhibited too, with a decent pace and a slick visual finish. As far as I'm concerned, Binary is the best work that the six-part miniseries has done so far, but unfortunately the averages don't agree with me.

Still, together with Witte Wieven, the best of Koolhoven's series. A special long short about the position of trans women in the erotic sector. Deliciously sultry and intense, well-portrayed and with a great vibe. Perhaps also the film that comes across as the most "scary" of the series. A bit of body horror and the development of an alter ego as a demon. Although that body horror is really not that bad.

Actually quite symbolic or metaphorical that demon that literally gets an external visualization about how she struggles with her body, her feelings and how her family feels about it. It makes her powerless and at the same time furious, especially when she is belittled or misunderstood.

Nice climax towards the end where it derails. Within limits as far as I'm concerned for the general public, but still. For a home production quite well done.
