Luizenmoeder - De Film plot

Director Anton has resigned from his position at primary school De Klimop. Since there is no immediate replacement, Teacher Ank tries to get things back on track herself. As usual, this is not without a struggle. The corona crisis has put everything on edge, making parents even more demanding than before. A big theme party is planned and a new interim director gives some air. The question is whether this director wants the best for the students.

After two seasons, the wildly successful series De Luizenmoeder got this film as a conclusion. Headmaster Anton has passed away and while waiting for a permanent replacement, Miss Ank [Ilse Warringa] will take over the directorship. Not everyone takes this for granted and Teacher Ank soon notices that she can hardly combine her new responsibilities with her task as a school teacher. Although some characters from the series are missing, Warringa once again paints a sharp picture of the problems in education, in which adults are the target and children are often the victims. So many striking moments, but the idea of tying up all the loose ends at the end feels very forced.

They didn't understand stopping at your peak at "De Luizenmoeder". And it shows. While season 1 was great, season 2 was mediocre. And then this movie...

The humor here is just sorely lacking for me. This is mainly due to Diederik's absence.

The film also wants to tell too much story.

Where you get the handkerchiefs sooner than you actually laugh.

Unfortunately not a successful film, which is now really on the decline.

2.0 stars.

I really liked the series. The movie is a bit over the top in terms of characters. Especially the know-it-all Karel is a total idiot in this film. It is nice that the children are more in the picture. The ungraduated teacher of barely 18 years old is doing great as an uninterested millennial. Bradley's mother is also fantastically portrayed as a credible antisocial benefit recipient.

But the big star of the show is Bradley. A name that has often been mentioned in the series, in the most diverse contexts, but always negative. That boy now gets a face and a background. And completely against the expectation - you sit down for a silly comedy - this touched me enormously, because you know that there are countless Bradleys in the Netherlands, who certainly did not have it easy in the corona time because they do better at school. finished than at home.

I must confess that I shed a tear about this.

Very strange that other comments on this site are mainly about the lack of Anton and that no one is affected by the Bradley storyline. Maybe that's because I have two sons of that age myself and it's more recognizable? What if we didn't manage so well, that Dad can type a movie review on Monday morning during working hours... Then they would be in that situation too. Horrible.

As a comedy it is not universally successful, but as an easily digestible drama the film survives, certainly because it also breaks a lance for educational staff who are always between three fires. Nagging, far too assertive parents, students who need extra attention and administrators who are more concerned with reports than with the well-being of students.

Maybe I'm the only one who gets the message from this film instead of moaning about Anton (Diederik Ebbinge is, in fact, a total dick and far-left puss bump).

Masters and teachers are the best!
