Season 5 is back to the 'fresh' old level in terms of story. The effects are better but the acting skills of some of the minor characters isn't great. I hope Naomi gets a chance to recover to her former glory because so far this season she's been a limp dishcloth. This series deserves a budget equal to the boring Startrek Discovery that really has nothing more to offer.

Another wonderful season, now The Expanse has reached the level of Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones for me.
Especially the side characters shine in this season. Naomi's strong association with her son, Amos's journey on Earth and Ales back on Mars. Impressive how the series builds everything up calmly and comprehensively and manages to bring everything together and finish satisfactorily. The only regret is that Holden's role is slightly smaller and that Alex is written out of the series a bit strangely. It's a pity that we only get 1 season, I think this can go on for a while.

Still the worst season
Season four was already slightly less, and this season also does not reach the level of the first three seasons. It must be said that, given the storyline, this is inherent to the series. In the beginning everything was exciting and new and the protomolecule was an enigma. This led to a haunting climax in the third season. However, now that the mystery is somewhat over, the tension is also a bit off.
Season 4 already had this problem a bit but was saved by an intriguing storyline with Holden and Miller. The storylines in season 5 are a lot less interesting and so that oppressive atmosphere is also like snow for the sun disappeared. This fifth season is mainly "in your face": it is clear where the threat comes from and what this threat is.
The storylines are a bit less interesting because everyone is doing their own thing here. I understand that this is possible after five seasons, but an entire season was a bit too much for me. Add to that the amount of monologues (especially by Avasarala, Naomi, and Peaches in the end), the remarkable choices (especially on Earth make a mess of it so that I could not arouse any sympathy at all for what is happening there), and the somewhat annoying Avasarala (fucking this fucking that, swear word here, swear word there).
All in all, certainly not bad, because it remains a Manjefiek spectacle, but The Expanse has definitely seen better days.
