The year is 1986. Dale Jennings is a diligent young reporter eager to become a newsreader for a commercial network. Helen Norville is a notorious star in the world of newscasters who is known for her tough attitude. She is determined to build her credibility. Over three months, the pair chronicle an extraordinary series of events, including the explosion of the Space Shuttle Challenger, the arrival of Comet Halley and the complexities of the AIDS crisis. Dale and Helen form a deep bond that will change their lives and the fabric of the nightly news.
