Bored to Death plot

Jonathan Amesis, a writer living in Brooklyn, New York, has just been dumped by his girlfriend Suzanne. Both still have feelings for each other, but his excessive alcohol consumption and regular marijuana use is too much for her. Heartbroken, romantic soul Jonathan places an ad on the net pretending to be a detective (unlicensed). He is soon hired for all kinds of assignments in which Jonathan - just like in the detective novels he reads - tries to help his clients as best he can in an attempt to forget his own breakup. From time to time, the writer/detective gets help from his best friend Ray, a cartoonist with relationship problems who sells his sperm to a lesbian couple. And then there's George, Jonathan's domineering, Viagra-guzzling boss who wants to feel young again, using the young writer as inspiration.
