Sin Nombre plot
"The greatest sin of all is risking nothing."
Sayra is a teenager, lives in Honduras and longs for a good future. A reunion with her father, whom she hasn't seen in a long time, gives her a chance to fulfill her dream; she can accompany her father and uncle, who emigrate to Mexico and then to the United States, where her father has a new family. Casper, also known as Willy, lives in Tapachula, Mexico. He faces an uncertain future and is a member of a gang. Casper brings a new member to the group; the 12-year-old Smiley. While Smiley is being introduced to gang life, Casper tries to protect his relationship with Martha Marlene by keeping it a secret from the rest of the gang. When she encounters the leader of the gang, she is snatched from Casper for good.

A film that gives a bleak picture of the refugees from South American countries to the US and the gangs that make life miserable for each other and the refugees.
In particular, the gang that Casper (Willy) is part of is a macho culture ruled by fear and disrespect for life. Disgust is strongly portrayed.

Sin Nombre provides an alleged picture of refugee issues, but this is only a subplot. In essence, of course, it is about joining and the consequences of this if one wants to be part of the Mara Salvatrucha, often abbreviated to MS-13 or MS. Since the film wants to mix all kinds of themes, I found it a bit messy and lacking in one thing or the other. I think it would have been more resident.

Film about a group of refugees who have to take a train across Mexico to reach the United States. Two refugees are being followed in particular. Both with their own motives, but with the same goal.
