Movies about snuff movies. Interesting, but unfortunately it doesn't come across well in this prequel. This is partly due to the (to me) unknown actors that sometimes annoyed me slightly. Reece and Otis did reasonably well, but the show was stolen by Smith. Every now and then he would send a shiver down my spine.

Unfortunately, the tension and mystery quickly disappeared because too much is immediately given away. All the cliches are there, not working phones and cars, stupid actions, etc.. they all pass by. It's not bad, but it's not refreshing or innovative either. Nice for an evening on the couch with a blanket, popcorn and coke.

The only thing the film has in common with Vacancy is filming in a motel. The film already betrays its plot in the beginning and it eventually becomes a regular chase, where you actually already know how it ends. Nowhere really surprising or exciting and actually just soporific. Part 1 was not that bad, but this part was really unnecessary.

A superfluous sequel to the fun first Vacancy film. While the viewer in the first film can still sympathize with the couple who end up in the motel, here you are dealing with a bunch of insufferable people who you don't mind meeting their end. I found that black boy quite annoying. Couldn't wait for him to be slaughtered. In addition, there is also less good acting in this part and everything is filmed rather ugly. It also doesn't help that the cameraman apparently suffers from hyperactivity.
If you've seen the first, there's no suspense in this sequel either. Where in the first film the tension is built up by the scary atmosphere and because you really sympathize with the victims, in this sequel a number of faint jump scares are used. However, in this sequel, a nice clue is given how it all started with those snuff films, because Smith's first murder is accidentally caught on video.
But after all that criticism I have to say, I did have fun with this inferior sequel. At least until the youngsters arrive at the family's house, after that everything becomes very predictable. The couple doesn't call the sheriff but the perpetrators, what a surprise! A third Vacancy film may not be made anymore and I don't need that anymore. However, does anyone know if this is an official sequel to the Vacancy movies? The Helpers (2012)
In that case, judging by the trailer of that film, the level has dropped significantly with each sequel. Not every movie needs to have thirty-eleven sequels! And certainly not if the cast is getting younger and more amateurish, and the quality of the films less and less.
