Batman Returns plot

"The Bat, the Cat, the Penguin."

Oswald Cobblepot (DeVito) was so hideously ugly at birth that his parents threw him into the water in a basket. He grew up among the penguins in the sewer. Together with a corrupt businessman, they come up with a plan to take over the city and accuse Batman (Keaton) of murder. In addition to these two bad guys, Batman also has to contend with Catwoman, but which side is she on?

Like Batman, this movie has a special place in my heart.

Youth spirit at its peak.

This is a batman movie the way a batman movie should be.

And who better than Tim Burton to direct.

Michelle Pfeiffer is a beautiful woman and even sexier as a catwoman than she already is.

Too bad after batman returns came Joel Schumacher and totally ruined the batman franchise with his colorful fantasy world that doesn't fit batman at all.

In batman forever and batman and robin, the character is just ridiculed for a real mortal sin.

luckily Christopher Nolan made a very good comeback.

Timeless top entertainment.

Very fun and visually superb Batman film in which the bizarre humor does not stand in the way of the action and the spectacle and the black comic undertone does not prevail anywhere. Central to the success are two outstanding villains, with Danny DeVito going for every spiciness and Michelle Pfeiffer magnificently ignoring how much Catwoman is "good" and how bad (and presumably Selina doesn't even know it herself). , and which I have never found more attractive than in this film. Curiously enough, the role of Christopher Walken (by far my favorite actor of all in this film) looks a bit pale in comparison with his partners in crime, I'm afraid he gets too little exuberant to do here ( except of course the scene where he questions Selina about her investigation into the encrypted files). The hilarious highlight of Batman returns for me is the scene in which Oswald controls the Batmobile in a kind of simulation chair cum rocker: DeVito's almost spastic body language makes me laugh out loud every time - it's just too bad that Batman eventually regains control of his car (although Oswald's ensuing frustration is also very funny). The best of the first batch of Batman movies, and in my opinion the most entertaining of all that has come to the silver screen about The Dark Knight.

“You gotta admit I played this stinkin' city like a harp from hell.”

Cooler and more exuberant than the first Burton/Keaton Batman film and unfortunately also a lot less. I'm used to the first Burton movie and Nolan's Batman trilogy so a Danny DeVito in a ridiculous penguin costume is a bit of a mouthful. He's not funny and he's not menacing as Batman's opponent, so what is he? What was the purpose of his character? I don't know.

Fortunately, Keaton is wonderfully hypothermic again and especially cool as Batman and Michelle Pfeiffer is very strong as Selina Kyle. I mainly know her from her somewhat cool characters, but it's nice to see her let loose once in a while. All the other characters are back again for bacon and beans, but that was also the case in the first Batman film. The action is good and Gotham is beautifully designed again. The strongest point of Returns was perhaps some brilliant one-liners. But hey Danny DeVito…
