Revisited again, but my memory was more positive. All the muppets pass by and do their thing, although it sometimes feels a bit forced how they are stuck in the story. The biggest shortcoming remains the story itself, which is of course the pinnacle of moralization, in that respect it is nice that everything is softened by a 'muppet sauce', but as far as I'm concerned they come into their own when they have their own story and get lost in it completely. Unfortunately I didn't like the songs either, and then the whole thing is disappointing. 2*.

I've never been that into dolls. Then hate ventriloquists with their ugly dolls, but that aside. Michael Caine puts down a good Scrooge. Without the muppets, this could have been a fun version of A Christmas Carol.

The Muppet Christmas Carol is the Muppet version of Charles Dickens' famous Christmas story. This story has been filmed so many times that it is difficult to come up with an original one. However, this version succeeds wonderfully in this, thanks to humor and sometimes catchy songs.

Not every song is equally successful, but they do give the film a certain atmosphere. I don't have much with the Muppets myself, but I thought the dolls did quite well here. The Ghost of Christmas Present was especially fun. In addition, Michael Caine plays one of the best versions of the famous Ebenezer Scrooge.

The story is not very faithful to the book and is quite shortened on a number of points. Yet it is all attractively filmed, which suits a film like this. Certainly not the best film adaptation of the famous story, but one of the nicest. Partly because of this, The Muppet Christmas Carol is also a film that I regularly watch during the Christmas season.
