"They needed help. What they got was a miracle."
The gullible clergyman Henry Biggs encounters difficulties in his marriage. His wife Julia, the gospel singer in the choir, can no longer cope with his increasingly frequent absence. He is constantly dealing with the problems of the local residents and in addition a real estate agent wants to have the church demolished. Unable to handle the problems anymore, Biggs enlists God's help. It comes in the form of the angel Dudley, but Dudley brings more problems than solutions.

Hopefully it will be clear to everyone that watching this film was not entirely my choice, but for Christmas dinner my niece was in charge of the remote. Very sweet cliché story and to make matters worse, Whitney Houston also sings a few songs. Thank goodness this is typically one of those films that can only be seen around Christmas. Horrible.

The presence of Whitney Houston and her beautiful voice make this film worth seeing for me. What a charismatic person! The presence of Denzel Washington as an angel is also pleasant. A nice feel-good film for the dark winter months.

A remake of Bishop's Wife with Cary Grant. Unfortunately, the film cannot match the charm of that time, especially visually it remains rather poor. But fortunately you still have Denzel Washington who is doing his best to replace Cary Grant (which is impossible) and with Whitney Houston perhaps the best voice that ever existed. Unfortunately, she is less successful in acting. Not that she is doing that bad, but she later admitted that she had taken some drugs every day of the recordings. That wouldn't have been good for the result either.
Less than the original, but Denzel and Whitney are not too bad. With peripheral characters like the wonderful Jenifer Lewis, it provides a little more fun. Not a top film, but enough charm to still enjoy it.
