Kiss the Girls plot

"Smart Girls. Pretty Girls. Missing Girls."

Alex Cross, a Washington Police Inspector and Doctor of Psychology, learns that his niece, who studies law in North Carolina, has disappeared and was probably kidnapped. He rushes to Durham to join the search. Far beyond his jurisdiction and much to the chagrin of local investigators, he begins his own investigation. Thanks to his extraordinary deduction skills, he discovers that eight girls have actually disappeared, and that one of them has just been found murdered. She had been raped and carefully tied to a tree in the forest around Durham. Cross sees that he is dealing with a so-called 'collector' of extraordinary girls who are as beautiful as they are sensible...

Well well... there are really a number of things that are not right.

But to start on a positive note, it was a pleasant thriller and the story is captivating and somewhat original.

But credible? Doctor 'all-rounder' Cross, who can go his own way in the police investigation, the camera work and the sometimes dramatic soundtrack. No, unfortunately, then the story can still be so intriguing, that is not enough for me to judge the whole as sufficient. *2.5

Didn't think he was that great either. When I first saw it I would have given it more. Unfortunately I did remember who the serial killer Casanova was and yes, if I could still remember that, then there is no question of much tension. Also says a lot about the low revision value of this film.
There are a few nice scenes in it (the escape of Ashley Judd, the finale) but it has mainly become a fairly mediocre formula with all the genre clichés on it.

Every now and then and look oldie. This one didn't disappoint me compared to some current crap within a similar genre. Good cast, interesting story. Pity about the improbabilities and some stupid (one-man) actions. And I agree with some of my predecessors: those two guards at the end did have some serious digging, but.... maybe the scriptwriter just forgot about them, judging by the other stupidities in the script. The rest is worth a look.
