"Eastside High was out of control...until Joe Clark took it back."
No one knows when Joe Clark got the nickname "Crazy Joe." Perhaps in 1967, when he was sacked "for disorder" as a young teacher. 20 years later, Clark is at school-hell Eastside High. He barricades the doors to keep drug dealers out and removes 300 repeat offenders. That became front page news after a cover story in Time. Quirky and contrarian: that's Crazy Joe. Officials couldn't stand him, the students raved about him. Clark ends up in jail. There is an outright uproar among the youth for his release.
