Hunky Dory plot
Hunky Dory is set in Swansea, in the summer of 1976 – the hottest summer ever in the UK. Central are the experiences of an idealistic drama teacher who tries to steer the end-of-year show in the right direction: a kind of rock-n-roll, futuristic version of Shakespeare's “The Tempest”. She uses the children's favorite pop songs to tell the story. She tries to put on the show on her own and get the kids in shape, a task that is already very difficult and made even more difficult by the merciless sun and the alluring beaches of Swansea.
