Ladies in Lavender plot
Ladies in Lavender tells the story of two unmarried older sisters Ursula and Janet Widdington (Judi Dench and Maggie Smith). Their quiet life in the town of Cornwall is abruptly disrupted in 1936 when the unknown Andrea Marowski (Daniel Brühl) was injured on the coast of their village after a boat accident. They decide to take in the handsome young Polish-Jewish violinist until he is strong and healthy again. It soon becomes apparent that the charming Andrea is not only welcome in their home, but also in the hearts of both ladies! When a Russian painter visits Cornwall and discovers that the washed-up boy is a very talented violinist, she immediately takes steps to spread the word about his gift. The sisters are terrified of losing 'their precious gift' again and do everything they can to keep 'their Andrea' with them....
