All elements for drooling Hollywood drama are present, but fortunately here dogme realism in an accessible light version. (One of the last?)

Elsker dig for evigt can be better translated: love you forever. And how primal force sex relates to that.

An adulterous relationship in itself is a cliché topic, but here it is presented in an authentic way.

The secondary characters deviate from the blueprint. The paralyzed victim of a traffic accident is not an example of bravery, but behaves insufferably, furious and frustrated; perhaps as many people would react in real life. Stine, the adulteress' daughter, is not a pathetic angel, but suspicious and rebellious.

If loving you is wrong, then how can it feel so right? When they commit adultery, it doesn't feel like they're doing anything wrong. The problems and guilt come later. Then they're faced with a dilemma: they're both stuck with a partner they want to get rid of, but it's selfish to abandon your family and dump your fiancé while he's in the hospital.

Most of the time, the rules of Dogma 95 are respected. The hand-held camera follows the actors instead of the other way around, giving you the feeling that you are in the room watching. However, Beer sometimes deviates from the rules. She used fake blood in the accident. She uses an infrared camera for the opening scene and a Super 8 with accompanying sound for the flashes of distorted perception. The songs of the Indonesian-French singer Anggun are acceptable, because they come from headphones.

This kind of ultra-realistic cinema without effects and background music can get boring at times, but not here, thanks to the emotional development of the characters and the high level of all the actors. It's emotion, not sentiment.

Excellent film about two families who come into each other's lives through a tragic accident. Dilemma for beautiful Cecilie when her fiancé is paralyzed except for the head. And then it gets difficult. Do you also have to sacrifice your life and throw away your future? Very difficult issue, but Joachim makes it a little easier for her.

Niels, on the other hand, is in a bloodless marriage and finds love again with Cecilie. Serene and sincere film seems to me in which especially the sober camera work stands out, but once again the acting performances stand out in a very positive sense. Mikkelsen remains a great actor, but the rest is not much better.

The only disturbing thing I found were the sometimes abrupt transitions towards the end when the adultery comes to the surface and a kind of break is inserted. Twice the editing doesn't go well, including the scene with Joachim in the hospital when he sees Cecilie again. Otherwise great movie. Close to 4.0*.
