Dirty Pretty Things plot

"Every dream has its price."

The Turkish Senay and the Nigerian Okwe are illegal immigrants and both work in a London hotel. Okwe combines this with a second job as a taxi driver; to stay awake, he chews coca leaves all day long and rests when he can on Senay's sofa or plays chess with his Chinese friend who works as a porter in the morgue. After Okwe finds a human heart hiding the toilet in one of the hotel's rooms, he uncovers some sordid practices.

Very boring and dry film.

In itself Ejiofor does well and Tautou is not very annoying, but Frears makes it an endlessly boring intention by focusing too much on social problems. Very little happens and unfortunately there is not much to enjoy audiovisually either. Yawn Yawn.

The visual has never been Frears' strongest point, and it shows in this film. Ejiofor does

it's fine, Tautou is not a bad actress but I often have trouble with her a bit frumpy

presence, as if that sweet face stands in the way of any depth. Found her in this one

The film is also unconvincing, with her emotions (again) looking rather artificial. But it

I think this also depends on the director, who plays a rather unbalanced and actually quite monotonous

film presents, the acting scenes of a faint casualness, and some tension is also far too

Search. En passant, the director half-heartedly presents the circumstances/abuse of illegal

denounced immigrants. With all this the film floats on loose ground all the time, and doesn't know for a moment

really fascinating. Thanks to the acting of Ejiofor, the film still stands a bit,

but for me it was mediocre at best.

Not a film that provides a pleasant feeling, but also not raw enough to really shock. Some illegal immigrants are being followed in London where they are victims of all kinds of exploitation. Ejiofor is the main character walking from left to right and Tautou as a Turkish fragile young woman is believable in her role and you feel the most compassion for her. I was left hungry because it is what you can expect from these kinds of films: oversimplified drama in which society adopts a constantly negative attitude towards migrants. The only ones you can trust are other migrants. Well, if that's the reality. I didn't find it that exciting either. The best moments of the film for me were at the very end. Frears proves himself once again as a very changeable director
