Kathy, an emotionally broken young woman recovering from a drinking addiction, is evicted from her home after being falsely accused of not paying her taxes. A proud Iranian colonel buys her house for a ridiculously low price and moves in with his wife and son. He plans to sell the house for four times the purchase price. Police officer Lester takes care of Kathy and also begins an affair with her despite the fact that he is married and has two children. However, when the district realizes that they have mistreated Kathy, they have no intention of giving her the house back because the house has been sold and the price is now too high. However, Kathy does not take that and does everything she can to get the house back in her possession. However, that leads to a terrible drama.

“House of Sand and Fog” is a haunting film that continues to reverberate. The performances and music are perfect and the story is very believable. Vadim Perelman portrayed everything beautifully and turned it into a beautiful tragedy. He was helped in this by the wonderful bestseller by Andre Dubus III, which served as the source of inspiration for the clever screenplay. Definitely recommended.

Unfortunately there is no blu-ray release of this yet, not even abroad.

A good all-to-the-flood drama that relies mainly on the ending. The rest of the film is okay but the ending just takes it to a higher level. I'm not a big fan of Kingsley but he does a pretty good job and Connelly does a great job too. I had fun with it!

Overdramatized, contrivedly written and quite unbelievable. There is little sincerity about this film. The last half hour with the suicide attempts, the cop's plan and the murder of Behrani's son are the last straw. Connelly is beautiful again, makes up for something. All quite wrong.
