In fact, I only saw one film by du Welz with a title that fits, although with this "Adoration", namely the quite good "Quand on est amoureux, c'est merveilleux"!

In any case, Fabrice delivers an excellent film with his "Adoration" that really draws you into the adventure that two young people embark on.

"Admiration" certainly for the camera work that makes it visually beautiful and powerfully portrays the intense scenes, but no less for the acting of Thomas Gioria and Fantine Harduin. Soundtrack also very nice.

And now looking forward to du Welz' "Inexorable", recently shown at the FFG.

The Ardennes provide a beautiful backdrop for this psychological thriller about a naive boy and his destructive relationship with a schizophrenic teenager. Despite the solid acting and camera work, not my thing.

Unique drama film with two particularly convincing leading roles. With Adoration, director Fabrice du Welz once again delivers a special film that relies on the general atmosphere. With relatively limited resources, a fine impression is developed that lasts throughout the film. It compensates to a reasonable extent for the lack of tension and audiovisual finish, because Du Welz could have done much more with the sound layout on the left and right. The adventures that the children experience also vary in quality, but that does not alter the fact that it remains constantly unpredictable and the playing time never feels too long. Du Welz is a director who requires a certain degree of creativity to make his projects work, but if he is given the space, a certain degree of quality always results.
