This is a movie that reminded me a lot of The Deer Hunter, but that's not too surprising given the setup I think.

The story is certainly not bad, but the actors couldn't all convince me. Tate is decent, but Tucker in particular is mediocre and can focus better on comedies, where I always think he comes into his own quite well.

The first part of the film is not very interesting yet. Only when we arrive in Vietnam does the film become a lot more interesting. A nice transition from the first part to the part in Vietnam, by the way. That Vietnam piece is quite strong and intense, there are a few strong scenes in between. In the third part we see how the ex-soldiers have difficulty integrating into society, where the economy is also not doing so well. The reason for going robbing is clear, although I thought it was very quick and easy.

All in all, it's certainly not a bad film, which could have worked better with a few better actors. Now it was nice to see, but other than that it didn't do much for me.

3.0*

I found the movie quite tame. Maybe I went to see the film with slightly different and higher expectations. Where I expected a movie, more in the Menace 2 Society trend, the movie just didn't really come off for me. Despite this, there were some pretty good scenes/parts in the movie. During the whole movie I had just too often the idea "When will the movie come out?". Too bad, although this one still scores a sufficient.

The film is funny at times, exciting at times and dramatic at times. It's about a black young man, Anthony Curtis, who after a few setbacks has too little money to hand and wants to commit a robbery with some buddies. Sometimes it is always against some people and after seeing this film I have the idea that this also applies to Anthony.
