Always loved this movie. Strangely enough, I see that there are only 352 votes while Pearl Harbor has a whopping 3484 votes. It must be because of the title, because many people say Tora Tora Tora nothing. Although the film has a long lead-up, it remains unusually exciting even though the ending is known to everyone. It is nice that the Japanese part is also spoken in Japanese. The image has been beautifully restored on this Blu-ray and the sound is old but old-fashioned beautiful. Other than that, this film needs little explanation. Absolute topper for the enthusiasts!

One that had been on my wish list for a while and after the soggy stuff of Pearl Harbor (2001) and Midway (2019) optimal attention is paid to the story. It is in itself quite remarkable that the film was created by different and totally separate film crews. The scenes on the Japanese hatch were canned by Toshio Masuda and Kinji Fukasaku. The American part was then overhauled by Richard Fleischer. It is therefore nice to note that the Japanese speak Japanese and not English. It only improves the authenticity.

The necessary attention is paid to the developments that preceded the attack. And even during the attack, the necessary attention is paid to scrutinizing the bureaucratic system. It took a while before people really realized that the impossible was happening. Even the reporting to the outside world was barely accepted and portrayed as ridiculous. Partly from their own suppromation and the contempt for small Japan.

Also a special mention for the excellent fights. Perhaps a little less spectacular than what we are used to today, but for that time it was best to be seen. It was not for nothing that it received an award at the Oscars for the special effects. Lots of characters and a lot of diplomacy, all true to reality, because it's never as simple as other movies make it seem. Good historical film, nice!

It's been 6 years since I saw this movie for the first and last time. We sometimes watch films for the 2nd or more times, but there must be some years in between. The best thing is when you lose some of the story, it's just like seeing it for the first time.

What Torah! Torah! Torah! As far as concerns, it was and remains a fine war film with an excellent build-up and fantastically played by all. Also the beauty of this film is that the material is authentic and that is very impressive on a slightly larger screen. For example, if one of the executives on the Japanese side takes a walk on the deck, walks past a gun barrel, you will see that the barrel is at least 7 meters long. (without dome!)

My rating goes from a 7 to an 8! :O
