"In 1935, a New York kid was looking for a hero. He found Dutch Schultz."
Billy Bathgate is a young man who is increasingly respected and eventually ends up in the hallway of Dutch Schultz. Schultz is impressed by Bathgate and decides to take him under his authority and protect him. Soon, Bathgate realizes that he has entered a world of danger and death.

Very nice unknown gangster film with good acting.
The atmosphere and setting are very well done.
The story is beautiful and remains captivating.

Good film in which a young man is allowed to do all sorts of jobs by a mafia boss. Although the story itself is not very impressive, there is enough speed and the film gradually gets better. The film is set in New York in the mid-thirties and is nicely dressed in that capacity. Furthermore, a cast with quite a few familiar names.

Nicole Kidman marathon 5#.
Also seen this movie before. I couldn't remember the first part well, but I did remember the second half. Quite a nice movie with again a lot of familiar names. Although I do think that Billy is admitted to Hoffman's ''gang'' quite quickly and is very familiar with everyone very quickly. That doesn't feel very natural and I didn't understand that either.
It seemed like Kidman wouldn't have such a big role, but it's slowly getting bigger. I think she's at her best so far. At least I think the straight blonde/red hair suits her face better.
Still, the rating goes down a bit, because I don't think it's good enough for a 3.5*. It wasn't always interesting to watch and the denouement goes too fast. Now a 3.0*.
