The presenters of a television program are tasked with investigating a house in Mexico. According to the stories, it is haunted. The presenters have to record an exciting episode, which will ensure that the viewing figures go up. At first they are skeptical, not believing that anything paranormal is happening in the house. When this turns out to be the case, they do everything they can to record a spectacular episode.

Unimpressive, bland horror comedy from director Tony West, who makes his feature film debut with this film. Nevertheless, the basic concept is nicely conceived and the actors and actresses play their roles with great enthusiasm, but the ultimately very tame and limited conceptual development kills the film. The effects look dull, the horror ideas are extremely unmotivated and the lack of atmosphere is very annoying. If you appreciate the humor, Deadtectives will not be difficult for you, but this is the only thing the film will offer you. The tension is handled carelessly and once the ghosts come out of the corner I had to do my best not to roll my eyes. The pity is that the film simply does not exude any passion for the horror genre and that only leaves a lot of failed and, above all, needlessly exaggerated jokes.
