With Arnold's son, who does it really phenomenally. High Dave Gahan content, but then extremely psycho. It gave me the creeps.

Everyone is doing great. Also nice to see Sascha Lane again.

I liked this one better than Mandy I have to say, that started off great but went off the rails enormously. Visually both films are a real treat. Only here the story grabbed me too. Style and substance.

An overly screaming and overacting Nicolas they left in his Cage this time, thankfully. That makes a huge difference I think.

Too bad this movie got so little exposure. One of the better movies of 2019 in the horror department.

Daniel Isn't Real wasn't really a special film for me. I even found the film a bit unpleasant. The one after the other with boring dialogues quickly starts to bore. The final outcome is just as boring. No, this clearly didn't appeal to me. Glad it was over. Acting btw also very bad.

Solid movie.

We follow eight-year-old Luke who, out of loneliness, creates an imaginary friend called Daniel. It compensates for his empty existence and he feels recognition that is basically not there? Or is it? Because Daniel is, in my opinion, more than just an imaginary friend. Especially after Luke commits an act that he had no control over and his mother goes along with his fantasy world and orders Daniel to be locked up in the dollhouse.

But fifteen years later, Daniel seems to have returned. The same age as Luke. But now Daniel seems to be quite useful. At first, like something you would say a seduction coach could be. Daniel whispers all sorts of things to Luke to give him a bit more success with the crushes and it seems to almost control Luke's ego. Until Luke and Daniel start to clash and differ in opinions and the big ego actually lies with Daniel himself.

The execution is quite interesting. Throw Fight Club and that typical indie romance... and even some Jacob Ladder (Wbt die demonen) like gadgets in the blender and you get this. Sometimes it can be a bit chaotic, messy and clichéd and that's a shame. Still, the film is easy to watch and it does work out in a creative way. It could have been a bit more subtle.

For the rest, it's fine.

3.5*
