Bit of a dime a dozen silly comedy with a very cliché story. The film actually does not offer much and there is not much to laugh about (lots of silly and childish humor). Thanks to Queen Latifah, this film can still be seen because it plays quite nicely. That doesn't actually apply to Alicia Silverstone and Kevin Bacon. The first plays pretty silly and was actually just annoying and Kevin Bacon with his terribly fake accent got me annoyed (he didn't really have a big role). No, this dime a dozen comedy with a high predictability level was not really for me. At over 100 minutes, it is also far too long.

The spin-off of the successful but formulaic Barbershop comedies does not deviate from the formula and is in many ways no more than painless viewing for a not too critical audience. But Queen Latifah is downright charming and breathes life into this comedy, Silverstone has an amusing supporting role as the only white stylist in the Beauty Shop and the cinematography of 'our' Theo van de Sande is exemplary. However, Bacon makes a fool of himself.

faint.

Actually, Beauty Shop is exactly the level I expected from Woodruff. A director who has focused on a specific community and put down various things, but none of which has reached a high level. This film actually reaches a fairly low level.

Beauty Shop has become a safe comedy that takes the predictable side roads to drama and romance as we follow the lives of some characters who run their own businesses. Opportunities such as the problems with entrepreneurship are further avoided. Of course we run into the lamp a few times, but often hardly any attention is paid to this or it feels as if you can fix them with a snap in the fingers.

Latifah's acting surpasses the rest with ease. Is also remarkably good as an actress in this film, but roles such as Silverstone, Suvari and MacDowell are actually too dull for words. Bacon comes out as the nicest character, but that is not difficult with his role. I've kind of forgotten about the other roles, so it wouldn't have been very special.

The course is predictable and the direction is safe and reserved. There's very little I can discover within this film that will excite me. I read that this movie was a sequel to something. I couldn't have noticed it in the slightest, and I only found out afterwards. Oh well, I doubt if I can remember those movies well. Anyway, a minor thing here.
