This film is impressive and even gives me goosebumps a few times.

And for the following reason: I lived in Kuala Lumpur in 2014, although Malaysia and not Thailand. At the same time every working day, the prisoner transport drove past my house to the court. In 2014, that was still a semi-open type of pick-up truck with a hood and guards present in the body. Prison is very bad in KL and everything related to drugs in these countries is a big no-go area.

For that reason alone I watch these kinds of films with great interest, in the list:

-Bangkok Hilton

-Midnight Express

-Return to paradise

-Traffik (original from 1989 for channel4)

This movie definitely fits. Prison life gives an atmosphere of what it should be like there. Perhaps the acting is not always pompous, on the other hand, Bill Pullman puts a strong character again of a Westerner who lives in Asia.

Well worth a look, 4 stars.

The soundtrack is indeed top notch.

Of the above films, Bangkok Hilton with Nicole Kidman remains my favorite!

Nice rainy Sunday afternoon video. Especially nice due to the presence of the fresh and very young Danes and Beckinsale, otherwise it is a bit much copied from Bangkok Hilton - and that one is a bit better. The ladies play very well, but the supporting roles are a bit bumbling now and then, especially Pullman was a bit disappointing.

Very good film about 2 young girls who accidentally end up in a drug smuggling business and are caught. I especially thought Danes acted very strongly. The only thing I didn't like was the ending, although it was very moving. I would like to know what eventually became of that lady and whether any steps were taken by the lawyer, the American government and her family to get her released. You won't get an answer to all those questions, so I'm still a bit hungry. This costs the film half a star. Good story but can't match Bangkok Hilton and Midnight Express that were already mentioned here. Nice soundtrack by the way. 4 stars
