On the thirtieth birthday of one of them, four best friends are confronted with a film from their high school days. It is painful when they realize that they have not really lived up to their expectations from then. In fact, in terms of work and career, as well as in terms of family life and relationships, they are not at all where they had envisioned themselves at the age of thirty. In a somewhat inebriated state, the four decide that it is high time to change that. However, this gets so out of hand that they endanger their relationships and even their friendship.

On Lina's [Esmee van Kampen] 30th birthday, she goes out with her three best friends. At the end of the evening, they watch a video of Lina's 18th birthday together in which they each indicate what their dreams and ambitions are for their 30th year of life. A painful moment for Lina, who has been dreaming of a husband and a family for years. Caring jack-of-all-trades Nicole [Sarah Chronis], career woman Sena [Maryam Hassouni] and singer with commitment issues Vanessa [Yootha Wong-Loi-Sing] decide to help Lina find a husband, but gradually discover that their own lives are not as perfect as they seem.
It will come as no surprise that this film has a happy ending for everyone involved, but the road to it is full of pleasant surprises. It starts with the script by Dag Neijzen and Liesbeth Strik that manages to avoid caricatures and portrays four women who may take different paths, but whose friendship is always sincere and never forced. Friendship is (also) recognizing each other's differences and simply accepting them, and Lebrun knows how to portray that in an excellent way. The male characters also come across surprisingly well: they too are more than just fillers and reinforce the dramatic points of the film. Director Stolker makes effective use of the Rotterdam location and thanks to the cinematography by Elsbeth Kasteel, Rotterdam is portrayed in a rare and beautiful way. The four leading actresses know how to get the most out of the rock-solid script: the chemistry and the joy of acting are palpable, the acting seems spontaneous. Not every character gets an equally surprising ending, but they are strong endings to a particularly entertaining comedy drama. And Oscar Aerts is hilarious!
It is unforgivable that this film did not make it to the Pathé Ladies Night, because you rarely come across better 'women's films'.

Mediocre. On a few small moments quite nice and sincere and sometimes Rotterdam is presented in an atmospheric way, but otherwise a somewhat busy whole with many side paths and subplots that are hardly fun and do not manage to captivate. Wong-Loi-Sing (I did not know) I also liked playing, the rest is not bad but also not special. And then you get types from Komt een Man bij de Dokter, then I can no longer take them seriously at all. 1.5*

Four girlfriends promise each other to achieve all the goals they had when they were eighteen within two months – before the thirtieth birthday of one of them. Sounds like a great chick flick. And although I enjoyed watching the film, after a few weeks I had completely forgotten what the film was even about. The film contains some hilarious scenes (mainly with Esmée van Kampen), but also some unbelievable and over-the-top scenes. Unfortunately, nothing is really memorable, but it is a nice film for in between.
