Jackie plot
The twins Sofie and Daan (33) were raised by two fathers. When they receive an unexpected phone call from their hitherto unknown biological mother from America, they embark on an adventure that challenges all the assumptions they had made. The journey with the enigmatic and maladjusted Jackie changes Sofie and Zane's lives forever.

The problem with a Dutch film is that you keep thinking: they play it very nicely, without seeing the two real people they play. Also due to this very mediocre scenario. Lean story, which is brightened up with nice pictures from the US. Why 2 times in the film a can of Coke over the battery remains a bit puzzling and adds little. Seems more like something that was seen happening there and then just took over. Against corrosion seems plausible. Starting a car with an engine battery is rather unlikely. And why the whole motorcycle club? That there are also nice ones and not all criminal ones? And everywhere in that desolate New Mexico there's internet and cell reception. Should I believe that? And how do they know Mother Jackie's real address at the end? A single mistake is not bad, but this goes a bit far. Rattling scenario.
The lock is nice. It also seems a bit like that the scenario was based on this idea and the rest was dragged in by the hair.
Jelka and Carise do play their well-known roles: Jelka the bumbling positivo and Carise the confident.
It wasn't bad, but I didn't watch it full of suspense.

Fine. I think Carice, Jelka and Holly Hunter play well, but the story just didn't grab me. It felt a bit flat. I didn't think it was really boring, the landscapes are beautiful and it looked pretty easy, but the whole thing lacks a wow, as far as I'm concerned. A small sufficient (6). 3*

Not really a special, but an entertaining film from our own soil, the drama and the comedy content also go together quite well and Carice van Houten & Jelka van Houten are clearly well attuned to each other and bring out the best in each other.
Holly Hunter also did a nice job, although her character could have been a bit more "out of the corner". It reminded me of The Guilt Trip (2012) quite by chance? from the same year. 
To be fair, I didn't see the Melissa/Jackie twist coming.
Jackie has become worth it and fun to pick up once in a while, but at the same time it colors a little too neatly within the lines to really be an above-average film.
