Mme.

Not too special a homegrown film, and once again a self-produced production that failed to convince me. They almost all fail on acting power, but because the actors have seen each other here longer, it was less noticeable.

While it's not all badly acted, most of the problems lie in some of the dialogues and visual strength. Especially the use of the camera is below average. I thought it was all lazy and simple, just like the story itself.

Obviously a bit of a serial film adaptation with the necessary problems and other elements that have already been seen a thousand times. Family problems, love problems and sexual problems. It will all come to pass.

In terms of humor there is something more to experience, but it really didn't get hilarious anywhere. A few funny sentences, but the adolescent humor that often comes along and the necessary swear words were not very nice to be honest.

Simple script, mediocre drama and a running time that is unnecessarily long. Then there is nothing to see in terms of football itself. I've never seen the series, so I don't know if football was filmed there, but I did want to see some sport actually.

Plus points for a brisk pace, and the acting of Acda, Hoes and Sambo was good. The film is not very long, but still below par for a production of our own country. It is very noticeable that this comes from the Netherlands by the way.

Watched the film again after more than 20 years. Even though I had only seen the film once, I still recognized a striking number of scenes.

All Stars is a kind of Dutch feel-good movie about popular sport number 1: football! Many amateur football players will recognize the fortunes of the 7 football players in this film. Up early on Sunday morning to play soccer and half of your team that already unsubscribed before the game with some k#$ excuse.

Despite the fact that the film is about football, we get to see very little football in the film. Director Jean van der Velde concentrates more on the events outside the lines. The characters are somewhat caricatured and the plot is also quite simple, but fortunately the young cast knows how to make up for it with its enthusiasm. All Stars is simply unpretentious entertainment. The film was originally supposed to be the Dutch entry for the Oscars, but was passed at the last minute by the film Character, which eventually won the Oscar. A good choice too, though because All Stars probably wouldn't have had a chance at the Oscars.

What I did find funny is that actors Frits Lambrechts and Daniël Boissevain (both Amsterdammers) were in the film for Feyenoord and Peter Paul Muller (a Rotterdammer) was for Ajax. That must have been an inside joke from director Jean van der Velde.

Yes, you go in the hanging libero...

It wasn't completely unfamiliar to me, I suspect that I have seen the film at least once. Still, I remember better the series I've seen more. Pretty fun at the time.

All Stars is a more than fun image of a group of men who grew up together on the amateur football field and have now shared joys and sorrows. Yet the passion now seems to have bled to death, partly because most have other priorities in life. Marriage, children, own business, taking care of parents, work, or problems in love... the attention and time is spent elsewhere and that Sunday game of football with the third half seems more and more a side issue and even abolishable.

That yelling at each other, the quarrels, but also that for each other and with each other mentality that comes to the surface again is precious. In addition, the film is full of familiar faces. Furthermore, Kamerling's song is of course very well known, something that is a bit too tacky for me and I don't really need it. Funny are certain concerns such as the training camp, the situation at Poldervogels and the chaotic electrician.

In the end, how surprising, it turns out that football is fraternizing again and that which binds, leaving all other things aside. Apart from all the problems or that people are moving on with life and have more important matters, it turns out to be a team and friendship is central and that makes All Stars an endearing, touching and also fun film.
