Five married men secretly share a loft, where they receive their mistresses in style and peace. A fine arrangement, until one winter morning they find the body of a young woman. None of them know who the woman is, where she comes from, and how she ended up in the loft that only they own the key to. Out of necessity, the friends try to find out for themselves what happened and why, but they soon begin to mistrust each other and it turns out that they know a lot less about each other than they thought. Remake of the 2008 Flemish version of the same name.

Not familiar with the original or the American remake, but I do remember doing an internship at the video store in 2011, and this film was loaned out almost daily. As a result, I always cherished a certain interest in this and I started this quite optimistically. However, the film did not captivate me as much as I had hoped. Many well-known heads in the lead roles, but actually I only thought Fedja van Huêt stood out in a positive sense. I've seen Barry Atsma play this character before, I found Jeroen van Koningsbrugge rather irritating, Gijs Naber plays a caricature and Marwan Kenzari barely stands out. The female cast does a pretty good job, but too small a share to really add much. What I missed most was some intensity. When the men find the body in their loft and they start to suspect each other, things seem to be going in the right direction, but halfway through it all starts to ripple. The reveal wasn't impressive, but it wasn't bad either. That's basically how I feel about the entire movie. Fine one-time viewing, but I didn't notice much of (under the skin) tension.

2.5*

I have seen this Dutch remake before the Flemish original. I liked the plot: exciting with unexpected twists, the story is very strong. Acting not high flyers, but okay. It turns out that a lot of things that happen in secret eventually come true sooner or later. I thought it was fine to watch. After that I became very curious about the Flemish original.....

For years I actually left this film behind, as I preferred to see the original. But I couldn't really find the Flemish version anywhere, except on websites where I had to wait 2 to 3 weeks for it to be delivered. I am usually hesitant about such long delivery times, so I deliberately waited years until I came across the Dutch version (free) on Prime.

The movie didn't really appeal to me to be honest. I didn't find the plot too interesting, although the plot twist was okay. But the tension etc was missing for me. The acting was fine, but not outstanding. And this is one of those films, where the acting can take the film to a higher level.
