Unfortunately, this movie isn't half as fun as the TV series. That's a shame, because it kind of comes across as if the story and morals had to be forced into the film, at the expense of the real good jokes that are in the series anyway.

The humor has to appeal to you, because otherwise this is absolutely not for you. I've been given some of the Spongebob humor and thought it was ok, although it was quite irritating at times. This movie is really nothing else.
Lots of nonsense and other fun. The story is there, not much is discussed and more about the adventure of the sponge and starfish. The humor is occasionally funny, and the film looks pretty quickly away for a children's film that adults can also see.
Sometimes a bit irritating, but oh well, it's Spongebob. I had a lot of fun with this animation film, looks away quickly and is not really bored anywhere. Didn't have to laugh very often unfortunately, but that was a bit to be expected.

Spongebob is a phenomenon that you cannot ignore. So although I never saw a full episode (or even more than 5 minutes) I knew how to place the names Spongebob and Patrick nicely and that the gentleman lives in a pineapple wasn't new either.
I went into the movie pretty blank. He's totally freaked out, full of energy, screaming. But that is a conscious style and it remains neatly maintained. The voice work is also very fitting. And there are a lot of fun moments in it (the Hoff). But otherwise this is simply not my humor and I didn't really like the film for almost an hour and a half except for a few moments. I can't really say anything bad about the film, but it simply doesn't appeal to me. 1.5*.
