Disappointment of the year. I barely cracked a smile the entire movie. I didn't like the animation style either. Now you know why episodes are never that long; 90 minutes is simply too long to keep things interesting. Or am I getting old?

The latest entry in the Spongebob universe follows the lines of previous work fairly closely. The first film remains the best chapter; everything that came after it plays it safe and has a flawed story. Search for SquarePants is no different. The film makes absolutely no sense and relies mainly on a few funny individual bits and creative animation techniques. The pace is incredibly fast, and the jokes come so quickly that it's hard to get bored, but it's certainly not truly great.
