"Even monsters need a vacation."

Welcome to Hotel Transylvania, Dracula's luxurious 'five stakes resort', where monsters and their families can run wild, freed from the meddling of the human world. But here's a little-known fact about Dracula: Not only is he prince of darkness, he's also a father. Overprotective of his teenage daughter Mavis, Dracula fabricates elaborate dangers to discourage her adventurous spirit.

I clearly expected a lot more from this. The story itself is hardly anything and has been rehashed many times. Typically a story where the boyfriend is disapproved, is chased away, but is brought back out of regret so that the good news show can continue. So nothing new under the sun. What I did like, however, were the very fine animations with the various characters who skipped around in the screen, especially in the opening scenes. Here your eyes came up short to observe everything.

An entertaining film with some good jokes here and there. A bit predictable film that gets stuck somewhere in the middle bracket. As long as the kids enjoyed it, and they did. At times even a bit nasty when Dracula got angry, but that was part of the game.

Ever since his wife Martha died in a man-made fire, Dracula [Adam Sandler] doesn't want anything from people anymore. So he rebuilds his castle into a safe haven for all kinds of unusual creatures (think: Universal Horror) and does everything he can to stop his daughter Mavis [Selena Gomez] from making contact with the outside world, even as in Mavis after 118 years actually mature enough to take her life into her own hands. And then backpacker Jonathan [Andy Samberg] appears, a human who imagines himself in a Halloween party and wants to spend some time at Hotel Transylvania. Aside from the brave, somewhat pedantic ending, this is basically a very entertaining comedy full of visual finds with an excellent cast, but Tartakovsky's directing is so over-the-top that many of the jokes are missing and the occasional annoyance. arouse. All in all, quite enjoyable to watch.
