Pretty fun, even for a third movie. It is admittedly not a Toy Story level, but the Hotel Transylvania films fit in well with Shrek or Ice Age. In some respects, Hotel Transylvania is even a bit more fun, partly because it gets pretty crazy sometimes. Where many computer animation films still want to feel somewhat realistic, these films are pure cartoons; everything is possible and everything happens. I can imagine that an older generation gets tired of a film like this, because it all goes quickly. A lot of colors, movements, crazy sounds and music are flying around. But there are plenty of witty jokes hidden in that chaos and bustle. Lots of visual jokes with slapstick - which mainly reminded me of Boes. But the nice thing about Hotel Transylvania is that the characters are a nice group of monsters together. Of the 6,000 jokes fired at you, a whole bunch of them are pretty fun ('Say hello, Bob'), but a lot of them are pretty predictable too. Just like the main points in the script, you don't have to be an expert to see where the script is working from moment 1 and what steps will be taken along the way.

3 stars.

Another mediocre sequel.

I thought the first in the series was still funny, but part two was seriously less. This latest installment is pretty much on the same level. The novelty has worn off in the meantime, Summer Vacation simply offers 90 minutes of the same again.

It even reminded me a bit more of a TV episode, especially because of the story. The cruise actually makes no sense, barely connects to the previous parts and is also solved in such a way that at most one or two characters remain if there ever is a part 4. If they don't just write it out again with some excuse.

What remains are the well-known characters and some successful gags left and right. There are quite a few nice sight gags in it, which also get plenty of space because the story itself is so little that hardly any time is spent on it.

Three is enough for me. It won't get much better, or we'll have to take a new director who can push the series in a slightly different direction.

2.5*

Lacking ideas, the writers of this completely superfluous sequel decided to put together a variant of the already deplorable Hotel Transylvania 2. This time the whole family has to take a break, so the family goes on a cruise where Abraham van Helsing [Jim Gaffigan] disturbs the peace and Dracula [Adam Sandler] is enamored with Captain Ericka [Kathryn Hahn]. The poison cup was not yet empty, because a fourth, even worse part followed: Hotel Transylvania 4.
